Charge Lamp/Indicator: Testing and Inspection
Prior to performing test, check alternator belt tension and electrical connector for proper installation.

With ignition switch On, charge warning lamp should illuminate. If charge warning lamp is not illuminated, disconnect alternator electrical
connector and connect a jumper wire between terminal with white/blue wire and ground and note the following:
a. If warning lamp is still not illuminated, check for blown No. 14 fuse, defective charge indicate lamp bulb or open circuit in wiring (white/blue
wire) from warning lamp to voltage regulator or wiring (black/yellow wire) from warning lamp to fuse panel. Also check wiring between fuel
panel and ignition switch.
b. If lamp is now illuminated, refer to ALTERNATOR & REGULATOR TEST.

Start engine and allow to idle, charge warning lamp should go off. If charge warning lamp remains on, refer to ALTERNATOR &
REGULATOR TEST.
