Strike the socket with a plastic mallet to loosen the pinion stopper.

Remove the spring clip, then remove the pinion stopper.

Slide the overrunning clutch assembly off the armature shaft and discard.

Slide the new overrunning clutch assembly over the armature shaft.

6.

Reinstall the pinion stopper and the spring clip.

7.

Fit the pinion stopper over the spring clip:

Using a pair of pliers, pull up and hold one end of the pinion stopper.

Using a second pair of pliers, press the spring clip into the pinion stopper.

^

While maintaining tension on the first pair of pliers, reposition the second pair and pull up on the other side of the pinion stopper.
