Rear Windshield Discoloration from High Mount Brake Light Seal (Supersedes 85-043 dated OCT 18, '85)

PROBLEM

The seal on early-production, high-mount brake lights can discolor the rear windshield.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the high-mount brake light assembly with a new one, and clean the rear windshield.

1.

Remove the cover by turning the plastic retainer 1/4 turn.

2.

Remove the brake light bulb and connector from the light housing.

3.

To remove the housing assembly from the window, loosen the nut at each end of the housing with an 8 mm wrench.

4.

Use Honda Glass Cleaner (H/C 1759489), or equivalent, and a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the windshield. Use a horizontal motion so you won't
damage the defroster wires.

5.

Install the new brake light assembly.

6.

Reinstall the cover.
