1986-87 Civic 1500 & CRX Exc. CRX HF California Models
    Engine coolant temperature must be below 149°F to conduct this test.

1.

Disconnect hose from power valve and connect a suitable vacuum pump to the valve, Fig. 15.

2.

Apply vacuum and listen for a clicking noise from the power valve. If no noise is heard, replace carburetor and retest.

3.

Disconnect intake air air temperature sensor connectors, start engine, then disconnect hose from power valve and connect a vacuum gauge onto
hose end.

4.

No vacuum should be present. If vacuum is present, check for voltage at the power valve control solenoid valve within the emission control box, 
Figs. 21 and 22. If voltage is present, replace power valve control solenoid valve and retest.
