Fluid - A/T: Service and Repair
ATF Replacement

1. Bring the transmission up to operating temperature (the radiator fan comes on) by driving the vehicle. Park the vehicle on level ground, turn the

engine off, then remove the drain plug.

NOTE:  If a cooler flusher is to be used, refer to Transmission Cooler Flushing.

2. Reinstall the drain plug with a new sealing washer, then refill the transmission with the recommended fluid to the upper mark on the dipstick.

Always use Honda ATF-Z1 Automatic Transmission Fluid ATF). Using a non-Honda ATF can affect shift quality.
Automatic Transmission Fluid Capacity:
4WD:

2.9 l (3.1 US qt., 2.6 Imp qt.) at change
6.8 l (7.2 US qt., 6.0 Imp qt.) at overhaul

2WD:

2.7 l (2.9 US qt., 2.4 Imp qt.) at change
5.9 l (6.2 US qt., 5.2 Imp qt.) at overhaul
