BACKGROUND
A faulty ABS control unit can cause the ABS indicator to come on with DTC 52 (motor stuck OFF), DTC 53 (motor stuck ON), DTC 54 (ABS fail-safe
relay), DTC 61 (low IGI voltage), or DTC 81 (CPU diagnosis and ROM/RAM diagnosis).
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
All owners of affected vehicles will be mailed a notification of this product update campaign. An example of the customer notification is shown in this
service bulletin.
Not all of the vehicles in the VIN range are affected by this campaign. Before beginning work, verify that the vehicle is eligible by checking at least one
of these conditions:

The customer has a notification letter.

The vehicle is shown on your campaign responsibility report.
^
The vehicle is shown as eligible on a VIN Status Inquiry on the iN.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the ABS control unit.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Make sure you have the audio system anti-theft code. Record the radio station presets.
2.
Disconnect the battery negative cable.
