BACKGROUND
If excessive corrosion develops on the shift cable control pin, one or more of these problems can occur:

The vehicle moves when it's in Park.
^
The shift lever is difficult to move in and out of Park.
^
The MIL is on or the D indicator blinks, and DTC P1706 (transmission range switch open) is set.
