Remove and discard the spring clip and the control pin. Then separate the shift cable from the control lever.

If you can remove the control pin by hand, go to step 7.

If you cannot remove the control pin by hand due to corrosion, go to step 6.

Replace the shift cable. Refer to the 2002-03 CR-V Service Manual, page 14-165. Use the shift cable kit listed under PARTS INFORMATION.

Using brake cleaner and a clean shop towel, clean the shift cable and the control lever.

Apply a liberal amount of grease to the new control pin, the control lever, and the cable end. Attach the cable end to the control lever, then insert
the new control pin into the control lever hole through the shift cable end, and secure the control pin with the new spring clip.
