VEHICLES AFFECTED
DIAGNOSIS
^
The proper clearance cannot be obtained when attempting to adjust the valves.
^
When on the low point of the cam, the intake valve rocker arms can be wobbled side-to-side due to excessive arm-shaft clearance.
^
The inside diameter of the rocker arms show signs of wear.
^
The rocker shaft shows evidence of rotating in the cam holder.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace intake rocker arms and shaft, camshaft holders, and other parts with those in the cam holder kit listed under PARTS INFORMATION. Use the
procedure given in the appropriate service manual.
NOTE:

Inspect all valve clearance adjustment screws for excessive wear and replace as necessary.

The service manual procedure for setting cam timing is incorrect for engines with multi-point fuel injection. When removing and reinstalling the
camshaft pulley, align it as shown in this bulletin.
^
On the CRX HF only, discard the rocker arms in the kit and reinstall the originals.
