Air Control Valve: Testing and Inspection

1.

Remove control box No. 1 cover.

2.

Disconnect hose to air filter at air control solenoid valve, then connect a suitable vacuum gauge to the solenoid valve. Vacuum should not be
present.

3.

If vacuum is not present at idle, proceed to step 11. If vacuum is present, check for voltage at blue/red wire of air control valve.

4.

If voltage is not present, replace air control valve and repeat test. If voltage is present, proceed to step 5.

Check black and brown/black wire for continuity between control unit and ground. Continuity should be present.

6.

Check voltage at control unit connector black/yellow wire with ignition switch On. Voltage should be present.

7.

If voltage is not present, check wiring and fuse.

8.

Check vacuum switch B for proper operation. Replace as required.

9.

Check for voltage at control unit blue wire connector with ignition switch On. Voltage should be present.

10.

If voltage is not present, check blue wire between ignition coil and control unit.

11.

Disconnect vacuum hose No. 4 at control box.

12.

Raise engine speed above 1400 RPM and check for vacuum. Vacuum should be present.

13.

If vacuum is present, test is complete. If vacuum is not present, check for voltage at air control valve blue/red wire connector.

14.

If voltage is not present, replace air control valve. If voltage is present, repeat steps 5 through 10.
