Transmission Position Switch/Sensor: Testing and Inspection
Incorrect operation of the Gear Position Switch may cause the idle speed of the engine to drop abnormally when the transmission is placed into gear or
may cause improper operation of the A/T lock-up solenoids. The switch may be tested using a DVOM to check continuity through the switch connector,
located under the center console, near the Gear Selector Lever.
To test voltage through the switch, use the testing procedures for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) 19.
NOTE: Be sure to check that the index mark on the shifter lever aligns with the index mark on the shift indicator panel. If not aligned properly, remove
the center console, loosen the shift indicator panel screws and adjust the panel.
