7. Disconnect the shift linkage.
a. Remove the extension rod from the transmission case.
b. Slide the boot back at the connection position of the gear shift.
c. Drive out the spring pin with a punch, then disconnect the shift rod.
8. Separate the TWC by removing the self-locking nuts.
