Do not loosen the radiator cap when the engine and radiator are hot, or hot coolant may spray out. Allow the engine and radiator to cool before
loosening the radiator cap.
1. With the engine and radiator cool, open the radiator cap, and place the cap loosely on the filler neck, but do not tighten it.
2. Start the engine, and let the vehicle idle until the engine is warm and the cooling fan has cycled on and off twice.
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and remove the radiator cap.
4. Fill the radiator with coolant to the base of the filler neck, and fill the coolant reservoir to the MAX mark.
NOTE:
^ Use only Honda Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2.
^ Do not add water to Honda Long Life Antifreeze / Coolant Type 2.
5. Install and tighten the radiator cap, then let the engine cool to ambient temperature.
NOTE:
^ Blow air over the engine with an electric fan to cool it more quickly.
^ The coolant level in the reservoir should drop from the MAX mark and approach the MIN mark as the engine cools. If the coolant level does
not drop, check for cooling system leaks or a faulty radiator cap. A leak between the hose fitting on the filler neck and the hose inside the
coolant reservoir will cause the same condition.
6. When the engine is cool, fill the coolant reservoir to the MAX mark.
