Heater Core: Service and Repair
1. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming
procedures. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
2. Disconnect battery and drain engine coolant.
3. Remove intake manifold chamber.
4. Open clamp, then disconnect heater valve cable from heater valve arm.
5. Disconnect heater hoses from heater unit. Engine coolant will damage paint. Quickly rinse any spilled engine coolant from painted surfaces.
6. Remove two mounting nuts from heater unit. When removing mounting nuts, do not to damage or bend fuel pipes, brake pipes, etc.
7. Remove dashboard.

8. Remove mounting bolts and nuts, then steering hanger beam, Fig. 17.
9. Remove evaporator.
10. Disconnect connector from mode control motor, then remove mounting bolt and heater unit.
