Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Service and Repair

CAUTION:

Do not spill the brake fluid on the vehicle as it may damage the paint. If the brake fluid does contact the paint, wash it off immediately with water.

Remove the brake lines carefully so as not to damage or deform then.

Cap the line joints to prevent the brake fluid from flowing out of the joints.

Do not disassemble the Load Sensing Proportioning Valve (LSPV); replace it as an assembly.

1. Raise the vehicle off the ground, and support it with safety stands.
2. Disconnect the four brake lines from the LSPV.
3. Remove the U-bolt from the stabilizer arm, and remove the stabilizer arm.
4. Remove the LSPV from the frame.
5. Install the LSPV on the frame.
6. Connect the four brake lines to the LSPV.
7. Align the stabilizer arm with the flat portion of the stabilizer, and install the stabilizer arm with the U-bolt.

CAUTION:  Install the stabilizer arm securely. A misaligned or loosely installed stabilizer arm hinders proper adjustment of dimension L.

8. Bleed air from the system.
9. Lower the vehicle to of the ground, and adjust dimension L of the LSPV.
