Broken Condenser Fan Mounting Screws

PROBLEM

On some vehicles, the screws mounting the fan to the A/C condenser are brittle and may break.

VEHICLES AFFECTED

This problem affects only certain Passport LX and EX models with air conditioning and automatic transmission. Refer to the list that was sent with the
parts allocation for the affected VINs.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the condenser fan mounting screws with the updated screws listed under PARTS INFORMATION.

Follow Procedure 1 if the existing mounting screws are all in good condition.

Follow Procedure 2 if one or more of the screws are broken.

Procedure 1

PROCEDURE 1

1.

Make sure that all four condenser fan mounting screws are there and in one piece. If not, go to Procedure 2.

2.

Using a socket wrench or screwdriver, remove the mounting screws, one at a time, and replace each with an updated screw.

Connect the refrigerant recovery station and discharge the air conditioning system.
