Brake Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation
The brake warning light comes ON to alert the driver that the parking brake is applied or that the pressure differential brake switch is closed. It also
comes on as a bulb test when the engine is cranked.
Pressure Differential Brake Switch
With the ignition switch in ON or START battery voltage is applied to fuse 7 and to the brake warning light. The brake system is a split design:
one part will provide some braking action if there is a loss of brake fluid pressure in the other part. If you lose brake fluid pressure in either part of
the system, the pressure differential brake switch closes and provides a ground for the light. The brake warning light comes ON to warn the driver
that there is a loss of brake fluid pressure. The pressure differential switch also provides a ground for the rear wheel antilock brake controller. See
