1.
Remove the driven gear by pulling it straight out of the bushing.
2.
Inspect the O-ring around the bushing and the seal for the driven gear shaft for damage. Replace any damaged parts.
3.
Lubricate the shaft of the new driven gear with ATF. Insert the driven gear into the bushing. Push and turn the gear to make sure it slides all the
way onto the shaft of the VSS.
4.
Lubricate the bushing 0-ring with ATF. Insert the VSS assembly back into the transmission. Tighten the mounting bolt to 7 N.m (60 lb-in).
5.
Reconnect the electrical connector to the VSS.
