Remove the paper clip. Turn the pulley by hand and listen for any abnormal scraping or rubbing sounds. If you hear any abnormal sounds, take the
alternator apart and look for interference between the rotor and other internal parts, or for broken brushes.

Alternator Installation

Reconnect the wire to the B terminal.

4-cylinder: Push the connector onto the terminal.

V-6: Install the wire, lock washer, and nut. Torque the nut to 6.8 Nm (60 lb-in).

Install the alternator mounting bolt and the adjusting bolt. Hand-tighten both bolts.

Plug the regulator connector into the back of the alternator.

V-6 only: Reinstall the radiator hose guide to the support bracket.

Install the drive belt on the alternator pulley.

40.

Adjust the drive belt tension.

4-cylinder: Pull on the alternator to create tension on the belt, then tighten the adjusting bolt. To make room for the belt tension gauge,
disconnect the power steering suction line from the bracket (two bolts) and move it out of the way. Tighten the bolts to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) when
reinstalling. Check the tension with the belt tension gauge (T/N 07JGG-001010A), it should be 40 +/- 5 kg. Adjust the alternator until the
proper tension is shown. Torque the adjusting bolt to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft). Torque the mounting bolt to 38 Nm (28 lb-ft).

V-6: Install the belt tension gauge. Turn the tension adjusting screw to set the tension to 50 +/- 5 kg. Torque the adjusting bolt to 20 Nm (15
lb-ft). Torque the mounting bolt to 38 Nm (28 lb-ft).

4-cylinder only: Reinstall the bracket removed in step 5 to the back of the alternator mounting bracket.

Reconnect the cable to the battery negative terminal.

Start the engine. Check the charging system indicator on the instrument panel.

If the light remains on, check the wiring connections at the alternator. If the connections are correct, remove and disassemble the alternator.
Check for broken components or improper assembly.

If the light goes out, continue to step 44.

44.

Enter the customer's radio station presets.

45.

Install the Recall Campaign Completion label (included with this service bulletin) on the driver's doorjamb below the Manufacturer's Identification
