Rear Hatch Will Not Open
SYMPTOM
The rear hatch will not open when you push the release button.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The rear hatch release button was pushed in and unlocked with the key in the lock cylinder, causing the stop tabs to break.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the broken hatch release button.

REQUIRED SPECIAL TOOLS
Lock Cylinder Crimping Tool kit: T/N J-44488
This tool is available through the American Honda Tool and Equipment loan program by calling 800-346-6327.
Use normal parts ordering channels to purchase the tool.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
To reengage the hatch release button:

Insert the key into the tailgate lock cylinder.
^
Push the key in and turn it counterclockwise.
^
Release the key, and the button should spring out.
^
Without pushing the button, unlock the tailgate.
