Open the rear hatch and the tailgate.

3.

Remove the tailgate trim panel. Refer to page 8H-9 of the 1998 or 1999 Passport Service Manual.

4.

Disconnect the lock rod and the latch rod, then remove the lock cylinder retaining clip.

5.

Remove the lock cylinder from the tailgate.

6.

Put the cylinder in a soft-jawed vise, then remove the circlip and the lock lever.
