REPAIR PROCEDURE

1.

Raise the vehicle on a hoist.

2.

Remove the rear differential cover, and drain the gear oil from the axle.

3.

Remove both rear wheels.

4.

Disassemble the rear brakes.

4WD:

Remove both rear brake calipers. To prevent damage to the brake hoses, hang the calipers from the undercarriage with two short pieces of
wire.

Remove the rear brake discs and parking brake shoes.

Remove the parking brake cables from the backing plates (2 bolts each side).

2WD:
^

Remove the rear brake drums and shoes.

^

Remove the parking brake cables from the backing plates (slide a 13 mm box-end wrench onto the cable to compress the lugs on the cable
retainer).

Disconnect the brake lines from both rear wheel cylinders.
