Fuel Gauge Does Not Read Full

SYMPTOM
The fuel gauge reads about three fourths when the tank is actually full.

PROBABLE CAUSE
The fuel gauge sending unit has incorrect electrical resistance when the float is in the full position.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the fuel gauge sending unit.

Repair Procedure

1.

Record the radio station presets. Then disconnect the cable from the battery negative terminal.

2.

Make sure the fuel level in the tank is below one half. Drain out fuel if it is not.
