Front Steering Knuckle: Service and Repair

TOOL REQUIRED 

-

J-29107 Lower End Remover

-

J-36831 Tie Rod End Remover

-

J-23907 Needle Bearing Remover

-

J-36838 Needle Bearing Installer

-

J-8092 Grip

-

J-36837 Oil Seal Installer

PREPARATION:  

-

Raise the vehicle and support the frame with suitable safety stands.

-

Remove wheel and tire assembly. 

-

Remove the brake caliper. Refer to Brakes and Traction Control.

-

Remove the hub assembly. Refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.

-

Remove outer track rod from the steering knuckle. 

-

Remove the speed sensor (If equipped with antilock brake system) from the steering knuckle.

REMOVAL

1. Torsion bar. Loosen torsion bar by height control arm adjust bolt.
2. Wheel speed sensor (if equipped with ABS).
3. Back plate.
