Ball Joint: Service and Repair
Lower Ball Joint

TOOL REQUIRED 

-

J-29107 Lower End Remover

PREPARATION:  
NOTE: - Before replacing the lower ball joint, perform the following:

-

Raise the vehicle and support the frame with suitable safety stands.

-

Remove the wheel and tire assembly.

-

Remove the outer track rod from the knuckle.

-

Remove the retaining ring from the front axle driving shaft to release the shaft from hub.

REMOVAL

1. Remove the nut and cotter pin then, using a J-29107 remover tool remove the lower ball joint from the knuckle.

CAUTION:  Be careful not to break the ball joint boot.

2. Remove the nut, and bolt then remove the lower ball joint.
3. After removing the ball joint perform the following inspections.
