Extension Housing Seal

TOOLS REQUIRED 

-

J-36797 Extension Housing oil Seal Installer

-

Or Equivalent

PREPARATION:  Disconnect negative (-) battery cable.

REMOVE: 

1. Transfer case assembly. Remove transfer case assembly from the vehicle. 

2. Rear oil seal. Remove rear oil seal from transmission extension housing.

INSTALL: 

NOTE:  To install, follow the removal steps in the reverse order, noting the following points;

1. Rear oil seal. Install rear oil seal to transmission extension housing.

Extension housing oil seal installer: J-36797.

2. Transfer case assembly:

a. Install transfer case assembly to the vehicle. 
b. Connect negative (-) battery cable. 
c. Inspect transmission fluid level. See: Fluid - A/T/Testing and Inspection
