Move the shift lever to Park, push the cable pin on the blue interlock cam forward, and measure the clearance of the shift gate pin; it should be less
than 3.5 mm (1/8 in.) from the top of the shift gate.

If the clearance is more than 3.5 mm (1/8 in.), go to Replacing the Steering Lock Assembly.

If the clearance is 3.5 mm (1/8 in.) or less, go to Adjusting the Shift Lock Cable.

Repair Procedures

Based on your diagnosis, perform the appropriate repair procedure(s).

Replacing the Steering Lock Assembly

1.

Position the front wheels and the steering wheel straight ahead.

2.

Write down the radio station presets, and disconnect the negative battery cable.
