If the clearance is 16 mm or more, continue to step 14.

Emissions Recall: 1998 Passport Evaporative Emissions System
Dear Passport Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board.
What is the reason for this notice?
Isuzu Motors Ltd., the manufacturer, has determined that a defect which relates to emissions regulations exists in certain 1998 Passports. In some
vehicles, a purge hose in the vehicle's Enhanced Evaporative Emissions Control System (EVAP) is routed near the exhaust system. This hose may
crack from constant exposure to heat. If this hose cracks, your vehicle will emit excessive hydrocarbons into the atmosphere and no longer meet
emissions regulations. In addition, the Malfunction Indicator ("Check Engine") Light will come on to notify you of the failure in your vehicle's
emissions controls. Your vehicle may fail a state or local emissions inspection if you do not have this recall repair done.
What should you do?
Call any authorized Honda automobile dealer and make an appointment to have your vehicle repaired. They will install a new purge hose section.
This repair will be done free of charge. Parts are now available. Although this repair takes less than an hour, please plan to leave your Passport for
half a day to allow the dealer flexibility in scheduling.
California Residents - Your dealer will give you a completion certificate after performing this repair. You must submit that certificate to the
Department of Motor Vehicles the next time you renew the registration on your vehicle. The DMV will not renew your registration without proof that
this emissions recall has been completed.
