Brake Rotor/Disc: Service and Repair

FRONT

1.

Raise and support front of vehicle and remove wheel and tire assembly.

2.

Unfasten caliper and position aside, leaving brake line attached.

3.

Remove two disc retaining screws.

4.

Install two 8 x 1.25 x 12 mm bolts into threaded holes and turn bolts evenly to pull rotor off.

5.

Reverse procedure to install.

REAR

1984-87 Prelude

1.

Raise and support rear of vehicle, then remove rear wheels.

2.

Remove caliper bolts and position caliper aside without disconnecting brake hose.

3.

Remove rear grease cap, cotter pin, and pin holder, Fig. 2

4.

Remove spindle nut, then brake rotor.

5.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Ensure wheel bearings are properly lubricated, then adjust as outlined in Rear Suspension Section.
b. Install caliper as outlined in ``Caliper, Replace.''
c. Prior to moving vehicle, apply brakes several times to move brake pads against rotor.
