Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection
Secondary Test

Coil

1.

With the ignition switch OFF, disconnect the primary wire connector and the coil wire.

2.

Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between the terminals A - D:

Resistance value

0.3 - 0.4 ohms

Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between the terminals B - D:

Resistance value

2.09k - 2.31k ohms

4.

Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between the terminal A - secondary windings:

Resistance value

9.04k - 13.56k ohms

5.

If ignition coil fails any of the above tests replace ignition coil

NOTE:  Resistance will vary with the coil temperature, specifications are at 68°F (20°C)
