Wheel Bearing: Service and Repair
Rear Suspension
1.
Loosen wheel lug nuts.
2.
Raise and support rear of vehicle, then remove lug nuts and rear wheels.
3.
Remove two caliper mounting bolts, then the caliper assembly from the knuckle.
4.
Remove brake hose clamp attaching bolts and secure caliper assembly and brake hose to undercarriage with suitable wire.
5.
Remove two 6mm screws from brake disc. Install two 8 x 12 mm bolts into holes, then remove brake disc from rear hub.

Remove cotter pin from lower arm B or tie-rod end and remove castle nut.
7.
Separate tie-rod ball joint, using ball joint remover tool.
8.
Remove cotter pin and loosen lower arm ball joint nut half length of joint threads.
9.
Remove ball joint from lower arm using a bearing puller with pawls applied to lower arm.
10.
Remove cotter pin and upper arm ball joint nut.
11.
Separate upper arm ball joint and knuckle using ball joint remover tool. Remove knuckle.
12.
Remove spindle nut from rear hub.
13.
Remove four splash guard mounting bolts.
14.
Remove hub from knuckle using a hydraulic press and support base.
15.
Remove splash guard and 68 mm clip from knuckle.
16.
Press wheel bearing out of knuckle using a hydraulic press, driver and support base.
17.
Remove bearing inner race from rear hub using a bearing remover.
18.
Reverse procedure to install using new bearings. After tightening spindle nut, use a drift punch to lock spindle nut shoulder into spindle.
