1.
Disconnect actuator cable from actuator rod and 4-P connector.
2.
On 1989 Accord models, supply battery voltage to brown/white terminal and ground brown/black, brown and black terminals, Fig. 12.
3.
On Prelude and 1990-93 Accord models, supply battery voltage to D terminal and ground A, B and C terminals, Figs. 13 and 14.
4.
On all models, connect a vacuum pump to check valve and apply vacuum to actuator, Figs. 12 through 14.
5.
Actuator rod should pull in completely. If rod pulls in only part way or not at all, check for leaking vacuum line or defective solenoid.
6.
With voltage and vacuum still applied, try to pull actuator rod out by hand. Actuator rod should not move. If rod moves, it is defective and should
be replaced.
7.
Disconnect ground from brown/black terminal on Accord models and C terminal on Prelude models. Actuator rod should return. If actuator rod
does not return and ventilator hose and filter are free, solenoid valve assembly is defective.
8.
On Accord models, repeat steps 2 through 7 with battery ground wire disconnected from black terminal.
9.
On Prelude models, repeat steps 2 through 7 with battery ground wire disconnected from C terminal.
10.
On both models, actuator rod should return. If actuator rod does not return and ventilator hose and filter are free, solenoid valve assembly is
defective.
11.
If solenoid valve is replaced, use new O-rings at each solenoid.
