Shift Cable: Adjustments

1. Ship the transmission into R position.
2. Remove the center console.

3. Remove the nut securing the shift cable end, then separate the shift cable from the shim lever assembly.

NOTE:  Do not remove the shift cable by the shift cable guide pipe.

4. Push the shift cable until it stops, then release your hand. Pull the ship cable back one step so that the shift position is in R.
5. Turn the ignition switch on (II), and verify that the R position indicator light comes on.

6. Insert a 6.0 mm (0.24 inch) pin into the positioning hole on the detent bracket through the positioning hole on the shift lever assembly.
7. Align the flat surfaces of the shift cable mounting bolt with the shift cable end hole, then install the cable end on the mounting bolt.
8. Install and tighten the nut to the specified torque.

Torque to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).

9. Move the ship lever to each gear, and verify that the A/T gear position indicator follows the A/T gear position switch. '

10. Start the engine, and check the shift lever in all gears. If any gear does not work properly.
