This bulletin updates TSB # 03-30-001-1 to include the fuel sender resistance specifications for the 2004 and 2005 MY vehicles.
DESCRIPTION:
This bulletin provides the fuel sender resistance specifications for all current model Hyundai vehicles.
The fuel sender resistance is used to measure the fuel quantity level in the fuel tank. On some models, the sending unit specification has been changed
from a "3 - 110" ohm range to an '"8 - 200" ohm range to correlate with the new, one piece instrument cluster designs. Some changes do not coincide
with the model year change, so it is important to select the proper replacement part based on the production date.m
NOTE:
If a "3 - 110" ohm sending unit is incorrectly substituted for an "8 - 200" ohm sending unit, the gauge will read approximately 1/4 tank when the
vehicle runs out of gas. The low fuel light will not illuminate, as it is triggered by a calculation based on the fuel sender resistance.
The Santa Fe, Tiburon and XG350 fuel resistance values noted in the Shop Manuals are incorrect. Please make the correction and write this TSB number
at the bottom of the affected Shop Manual pages for future reference. Although the resistance values have changed, the basic test methods remain the
same. Refer to the Shop Manual under the Body Electrical section for detailed diagnostic procedures.
