Disconnect the connector to the kickdown servo switch.
4.
Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position.
5.
Using a DVOM, check the voltage between the vehicle harness connector and ground. If the voltage is:

More than 10V, replace the kickdown servo switch
^
Less than 10V, check the harness for an open or short circuit.
KICKDOWN SWITCH REMOVAL:

Remove the snap-ring.
7.
Grasp the kickdown servo switch with a pliers and remove the switch.
8.
Reinstall the new switch and snap ring.
9.
Reconnect the kickdown servo switch to the harness connector and reinstall the air cleaner.
10.
Test drive the vehicle for two key-on to key-off driving cycles. If P1709 recurs, replace the transaxle.
