Valve Seat: Service and Repair

NOTE:

Before reconditioning the seat, check the valve guide for wear.

If the valve guide is worn, replace it, then recondition the seat.
1. Recondition the valve seat with a valve seat grinder or cutter.
2. The valve seat contact width should be within specifications shown in the illustration and centered on the valve face.
Contact width:
Intake: 0.80-1.20 mm (0.0310-0.0470 inch).
Exhaust: 1.50-1.90 mm (0.0590-0.0750 inch).
