1. Measure the brake shoe lining thickness.

Minimum: 1.0 mm (0.039 inch)

Leading: 4.5 mm (0.177 inch)

Trailing: 4.6 mm (0.181 inch)
2. Check lining for cracks or other signs of fatigue.
3. Check the brake lining and drum for proper contact.
