Door Glass - Hard Operation/Loose in Run
Group: TRIM
Number: 97-80-001
Date: OCTOBER, 1997
Model: ALL ACCENT
Subject
ACCENT WINDOW ADJUSTMENT
DESCRIPTION:
If the window regulator is misadjusted, it can allow the glass to bind in the glass run, causing one or more of the following symptoms:
^
the door glass is hard to raise or lower
^
the glass has separated from the glass grips
^
the glass is excessively loose in the glass run
^
the glass run has deformed
^
excessive resistance in the regulator causing damage to the window crank handle splines
INSPECTION:
Check how the glass slides in the glass run as it is raised and lowered. With the window lowered 5 to 6 inches, move the top of the glass fore and aft. If
the window rocks to the rear, or rocks forward enough to let the top of the window out of the glass run, the window regulator requires adjustment.
Reducing the fore and aft movement of the window glass will reduce the window regulator effort and improve overall window operation.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
Elongate the window regulator mounting bolt holes to position the regulator so the glass travels in the glass run along the full length of the glass run at
the rear of the door. Make sure the window regulator is positioned so the glass raises straight. (Be sure to apply Hyundai brand touch-up paint or an
equivalent rust preventative to the bare metal edges of the elongated holes).
If the outer seal of the glass run has been deformed, adjust the window regulator to eliminate the cause of the condition, and replace the deformed glass
run with a new one.
