FRONT BRAKE SQUEAL OR SQUEAK NOISE
Some Elantras may exhibit a front brake squealing or squeaking noise, usually with a light braking application during low speed stops (5-20 MPH).
Brake pads have been developed to reduce front brake squeal noise. To correct this condition, replace the front brake pads using the following service
repair procedure:
Service Repair Procedure:
1.
Remove the front wheel and tire assembly.
2.
Remove and discard the brake pads.
3.
Inspect the discs for excessive grooving. If grooving is more than 0.015" (0.38 mm), or if the vehicle previously received brake rotor service prior
to the publication of TSB 94-50-004, replace the discs.

Apply a thin coating of high viscosity grease at the areas shown in the figure. A light coating of this grease can absorb some of the vibration that
causes brake noise.

between the shim and caliper

between the inner shim and the piston

between the edges of the pad backing plate and the caliper bracket
5. Reinstall the caliper with new brake pads. All current inventory is of the new type pad.
6. Reinstall the wheel and tire assembly, torquing the lug nuts to 65-80 lb.ft.
