"BRAKE PEDAL PULSATION DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR"
Some Elantra vehicles may experience brake pedal pulsation during light brake application at speeds over 30 mph, caused by excessive disc thickness
variation.
Brake pedal pulsation does not affect the stopping distance of the vehicle however, it may be annoying to the driver.
If a road test has confirmed that brake pedal pulsation does occur, the front brake discs and pads should be replaced using the following procedure:
1.
Raise the vehicle
2.
Remove the wheel lug nuts. Before removing the wheel, mark the wheel and one of the wheel studs so the wheel can be reinstalled in its original
position.
3.
Remove the drive shaft nut ,cotter pin, and washer.
4.
Remove the caliper cylinder and secure it with wire or some other retaining method so it will not interfere with removal of the disc.
5.
Remove and discard the brake pads.
6.
Remove the caliper carrier from the knuckle assembly.
7.
Using special tool, 09526-11001, (Axle Shaft Puller), disconnect the drive shaft from the hub, and remove the brake disc and hub assembly.
8.
Separate the disc from the hub and discard it.
9.
Install a new disc on the hub.
