CRUISE CONTROL CABLE ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE
DESCRIPTION
This bulletin describes the procedure for adjusting the cruise control system cables, and should be used as a supplement to the cruise control information
in the Engine Electrical System section of the shop manual.
DISCUSSION
The objective of cable adjustment is to correctly adjust the play (or slack) in the system's cables. It should be noted that some play is necessary for proper
system operation.
Excessive play in the cables can result in complaints that it takes too long to engage or cruise control surge (on/off application of throttle).
Insufficient play in the system's cables can result in the throttle being held partially open, causing a higher than desired base idle speed.
The diagrams illustrate the component identifiers used in this bulletin.
As can be seen from the diagram:

Pulley A is connected to the accelerator cable.

Pulley B is connected to the throttle cable.

Pulley C is connected to the cruise control cable.
PROCEDURE
The following procedure should be performed when the engine is warm (coolant temperature above 80 degrees C).

Check that there are no sharp bends or breaks in the accelerator, throttle, or cruise control cables.
