Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair

1. Remove reservoir cap, drain brake fluid into a suitable container, then remove reservoir from master cylinder, Fig. 1.
2. Remove snap ring while depressing piston with a blunt tool. If necessary, secure master cylinder in a suitable soft jawed vise.
3. Remove primary and secondary pistons from master cylinder body. Do not disassemble primary and secondary pistons.
4. Inspect all components for rust, wear or damage and repair or replace as necessary. Apply brake fluid to all components prior to reassembly.
5. Reverse procedure to assemble.
