Replace the timing chain. (See figures 2, 6 and 7)
Note:
The new timing chain has BLUE timing links (the previous chain has GOLD links). (See figures 6 and 7).
WORK TIPS:
1.
The bolts which hold the timing chain upper guide in place can be reused.
2.
Be sure to correctly align the timing chain to the cam sprockets (see figures 6 and 7).
3.
Be sure to torque the cam shaft bearing caps to 10 lb.ft (14 N.m).
4.
Be sure to torque the valve cover to 7 lb.ft (10 N.m).
