Elantra GLS Sedan L4-2.0L (1999)
1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
NOTE: Prior to doing any further work after disconnection of the battery cable, wait at least 30 seconds.
2. Remove the air bag module mounting nuts (4EA) using a socket wrench.
3. Disconnect the horn connector and disconnect the air bag module connector using flat blade screwdriver, and then remove the air bag module
using flat blade screwdriver, and then remove the air bag module.
4. Loosen the steering wheel mounting nut and the steering wheel.
5. Remove the steering column upper shroud using a (-) drive and remove the steering column lower shroud by removing the mounting screws as
shown in the illustration.
6. Loosen the multifunction switch assembly mounting screws (3EA) and then remove multifunction switch assembly after disconnect of the
connectors.
