TIMING BELT NOISE: FRONT CASE
This TSB has been revised to correct the OP Code in the Warranty Information table.
DESCRIPTION:
Some 1999-2000 Elantras and Tiburons produced before Sept. 22, 1999, may exhibit of an unusual noise at the front of the engine. The cause of the
noise may be the timing belt rubbing against the front dust cover. A frayed or shredded front edge may occur on the timing belt. The condition may be
caused by the front case (P/N 21310-23002) and is most likely to occur at a very low mileage.
SERVICE INFORMATION:
1.
Verify this condition by removing the Timing Belt Upper Cover.
2.
Inspect the front edge of the timing belt for fraying / shredding.
3.
Inspect the backside of the upper cover for evidence of rubbing.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
1.
If any of the above conditions exist, replace:
front case (P/N 21310-23002)
