Loosen the hub nut to 0 ft.lbs.

Retorque the hub nut to 4 ft.lbs. with a torque wrench while rotating the drum/hub.

Note

Premature bearing wear and noise can occur if the hub nut is not tightened to the specified 4 ft.lbs.

Install the nut retainer and a new split pin. If the hole in the spindle and the nut retainer cannot be aligned, you may loosen the nut slightly (a
maximum of 15~) to allow the split pin to be installed.

During removal of the hub cap it may be deformed and, therefore, not fit properly if reinstalled onto the drum. To avoid this condition, install a
new hub cap.
