Please note that the Reed Valve Subassembly and ACV Assemblies are not In the parts catalog or microfiche.

Any additional parts needed to complete vehicle repairs may be ordered through the parts catalog; however, the need for additional parts is expected to
be very low and the warranty claims will be 100% audited by HMA along with 100% return of all replaced parts for inspection by HMA.

Please note that demand for this campaign is expected to be very light until the first owner mailings are made on January 20.

Repair Procedures

Inspection Of The Secondary Air Filter Case, Air Hose.

Air Filter Case

1.

Inspect the Secondary Air Filter Case and Air Hose for signs of melting. In the rare case of melting, replace:

- Reed Valve Subassembly
- A.C.V. Assembly
- Air Hose
- Secondary Air Filter Case

2.

If there is no visible damage to either the Secondary Air Filter Case or Air Hose, proceed to, AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (A.C.V.)

AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (A.C.V.) IDENTIFICATION Two types of A.C.V.s were used In 1986-1989 Model Year Hyundai Excel
emissions control systems.
