Inspect the exhaust manifold for traces of carbon that may indicate leakage. If the manifold is damaged, it must be replaced. If no problems are
found, go to step 10.

Replacing the Exhaust Manifold

Before replacing the exhaust manifold, apply penetrating oil to the six nuts that attach the manifold to the head, as well as the five
manifold-to-converter bolts and the oxygen sensor.

Remove the oxygen sensor with a box end wrench to prevent damage. Then, loosen the fasteners and remove the manifold.

9.

Install the new manifold and gaskets. Before installing the oxygen sensor, coat the threads only with an anti-seize compound.

10.

Install the heat shield and pipe, and tighten all fasteners to the proper torque.
