To begin, open the hood and install fender covers on both fenders.

Disconnect the intake air temperature sensor and vacuum hoses, and remove the air cleaner assembly.

CAUTION:

The following steps should be performed on a cool engine to prevent burning yourself on any exhaust system parts.

Apply penetrating oil to both air pipe nuts and the three heat shield bolts. Allow sufficient time to soak in.

4.

Loosen the nuts, being careful not to damage the air pipe or oxygen sensor, and remove the air pipe.

5.

Remove the bolts that attach the heat shield to the exhaust manifold, and lift the shield away from the manifold. Be careful not to damage the lead
to the oxygen sensor.
