Remove the black friction tape from the connector end of the protective cloth covering. Push the covering away from the connector.

Pry the rubber plug out of the back of the connector and push it up the leads approximately two inches.

Release one lead from the connector housing by prying up the locking lug using a small screwdriver. Caution: release only one lead at a time to
assure that they are returned to their proper position in the connector housing.

Using a small pair of pliers, tighten the connector that is on the lead as shown. Caution: do not use excessive force as this may cause difficulty in
reconnecting the repaired part to the vehicle main harness.

8.

Reinstall the lead into the connector housing until the locking lug is felt to snap into position and the lead is firmly locked in place.

9.

Repeat steps 6-7-8 for the remaining two leads.

10.

Push the rubber plug back into position. Re-tape the protective covering back into its original position. Secure the connector lead back into the
wire holders on the side of the fuel tank and reconnect the fuel sending unit connector to the main harness.

11.

Confirm that the fuel gauge is now operative. If not, consult the repair manual for the proper procedures for testing the fuel gauge unit.
